The guy Joel at 3:31 says that he got out of the hole for over 100K , but he sold his condo and he says he is 28yrs old. and makes 40K a year. OK well how did he get that condo in the first place? MOMMY more than likely co-signed for him and assisted him with the debt load, but you will never hear about that. How about the many people like me who have losers for parents and are on their own 100%. Where is the REAL plan to get out of debt.

that’s a lot of writing and it’s sometimes hard to tell what you’re talking about but I think I get the general idea. It seems like you and your family are very self sufficient and have a strong work ethic which, I find commendable. Out of curiosity, I have a question, if your wife chose to work for a company owned by woman would you be supportive of this? Or if she wanted to work at all how would you feel about it? I appreciate a man leaving it up to her.
Anyway, DR advocates not “quick fixes” with consumer debt, but working hard, making every sacrifice reasonably possible (example, for us, my working outside the home is not an option) and paying off the debt. Then, NEVER going in debt for “stuff” again. But save for what you want and pay for it when you can afford it.
That is awesome how you and your wife are house flippers. I have thought of that myself but I think it is a bigger risk where I live. Besides, you have to be VERY organized, and that is a skill I lack! Do you plan on selling your soap? Some folks here have been VERY successful making and selling their soap. You now find it all over the state. It is good stuff!
He NEVER recommends bankruptcy, He always advises people to pay the debt. He says it is not honorable to not pay the debt. I have never heard him advise to “walk away” but to avoid the “quick fix” because that does nothing for character. He also is very supportive of the woman’s role in the home and home schooling.
Well…you and DR have a lot in common, morals and values wise. (with the exception of holding onto a credit card). He has traditional values, like you. He hates what our government is doing right now (“Term limits!”) He always tells people to take responsibility, “man-up” , behave like adults. When you said, ” I dont think we will be out of this recession by sept as bernanke states. We wont be out until people de leverage but not by waking away.” I assume you refer to bankruptcy?
